who debated on the original sniper rifle in NAM.

In case you didn't know, NAM started as a a TC
for Duke Nukem 3d called platoon 2. But Gtgames picked it up and is now NAM. Anyways
because it does not need Duke to run all the cheats were taken out. So I made this con
file that gives you 9999% health When you pick up ammo for a weapon it gives you 999
rounds so that should make it easier. |
AK-47 Weapon

This patch will replace the M-60 with an AK-47
Assault Rifle.
The art for the AK is from the game Redneck Rampage, but it has been
modified quite extensively to work with NAM.This weapon patch completely
replaces the M-60. It replaces the art for the weapon, along with the weapon
and ammo clips that are on the ground. The art for this weapon is from
Xatrix Entertainment's "Redneck Rampage," which was also created using the
Build engine. However, the weapon from RR had to be extensively modified to
make it operatable and pleasent looking in NAM.
But, there are some
flaws. The weapon holds 200 rounds, but the clips only provide you with 100
rounds. But, Alec thinks that, "I figured if I made the the correct values,
then you would find yourself out of ammo quite often." So far, so good.
Overall, this is a very cool patch, and if you don't mind add-ons, pick this
up.

This set includes a changed sound for the M-60, a
new M-60 gunner con file, and a new crosshair.
Altered M-60 Sound
This change replaces the existing M-60 sound
with the cooler sounding "heavy" M-60, which
can be heard when firing the stationary M-60s
on Tanks, Helicopters, or in embankments.
M-60 Gunner Con File
This new con file allows you to carry 900
rounds of ammuntion for the M-60. But you
can only carry 4 Claymores, 6 frag grenades,
and now up to 360 rounds for the M-16. Makes
battles tougher, and places you in the shoes
of an M-60 gunner, usually part of a 7 man
SEAL team. Ammo for the M-16 is now picked
up 2 clips at a time. Ammo for the M-60 is
now 225 rounds per box. Can also carry 1
M-72 LAW.
New Crosshair
This new art patch changes the crosshair from
a yellow cross into a small red dot (much like
in Quake 2). The dot is *very* small (1 pixel
to be exact), but it makes seeing the environment
somewhat easier, and it serves as a nice change
to the large yellow crosshair. Note that if you want to use this add-on in
multiplay, all players must have it so that game works properly. |

The purpose of this modification for NAM is to create a more
realistic with enhanced compatibility and and gaming. The modifications are:
New art added mainly from reason that in original game if you didn't
used crosshair you didn't have a chance to hit something. Also, there was
one big thing missing, the hand which holds the weapon. Although it looks
ugly, but at least is something. So the angle of weapons was changed for
easier aiming without using crosshair (for realism fanatics), also, M72
centered and cross line lightened for easier aiming.
Sounds: Changed
a few weapon sounds since the original were a bit too quiet for weapons
firing a foot away from your ear. Also changed enemy weapon sounds so there
won't be confusion of who is firing. Added blanks falling from weapon for
better game atmosphere. There was a few sounds removed such as: changing
weapons (some of them), claymore on wall, goggles on/off, man falling on
ground (since those sounds cannot be heard very much), IRL and this increase
gaming (this way you don't know if someone put mine on wall or using NV to
see you, and when you hit somebody you will need to check is he dead
otherwise you taked cover and waited for the thud sound).
Con: Less
ammo, bigger firepower. This was done from simple reason. There is no man
which can run around carrying all this weapons with so much ammunintion,
there was two ways to remove some weapons or lessen ammo. So that was done (
M16A2 with M203{use M79 place}, Colt M1911 instead of M60 with 12 ammunition
is planned. Other weapons will remain. And if you have any ideas, ATTACKAT
is open for any discussion.)
Con: Explosions. Watch out for any kind
of explosion. Lethal range has been drastically increased. The reason for
that: Couldn't handle throwing explosive 5 meters away and viewing it's
detonation without harming me. Same goes with artillery and plane
bombardments. Don't think you can just step aside from MIG-21 bombing path
and looked at bombs falling near you.
Con: Night Vision Goggles. The
durability time was raised to 160% (NAM WAR - Although you can get around
250% on rare occasions in the original game), but me thinks this only works
in multyplay.
Con: Portable medikit is lowered to 75%. This was made
because I think it's purpose is to stop bleeding if occurs not as health
points storage (player with medikit usually wins in frontal fight). This way
all players have equal chance, and you will protect your medic better.
Note: If you want to use this add-on in multiplay, all players must have
it so that game works properly. To install this add-on just copy the files
from the realfile.zip to your NAM directory and play the game as you
normally would.
