PLEASE NOTE--THE MAKEMAP PROGRAM IS A VARIATION OF A PROGRAM CALLED BUILD, WHICH WAS USED TO MAKE DUKE NUKEM 3D. MOST OF THE FUNCTIONS OF MAKEMAP ARE IDENTICAL TO BUILD. YOU CAN GO TO WWW.ELITEGAMES.COM/D3DBUILD AND DOWNLOAD A FILE CALLED MAPFAQ 1.2, WHICH EXPLAINS MORE THAN I COULD. IT ALSO COMES WITH MANY MAPS THAT DEAL WITH SPECIFIC ITEMS (DOORS,TELEPORTERS, WATER, ETC.). IF YOU HAVE DUKE 3D GET THIS AND LOOK AT THE MAPS. IF YOU DON'T HAVE DUKE 3D, GET THIS FOR THE TEXT FILES.

This was written for the benefit of those who have problems running MAKEMAP.
(in example: My 3D mode is messed up, wierd colors, etc.)

In your REDNECK RAMPAGE directory there should be a program called KEXTRACT.
It was on the CD. If you don't have it in the directory, put it there.
The MAKEMAP program should also be there.
Open a DOS window by clicking START/PROGRAMS/MS-DOS Prompt from your desktop.
In this DOS window change to your REDNECK directory (cd\Redneck or whatever).
Now type this line: kextract Redneck.grp *.art palette.dat.
This will extract all of the ART files for the game. THESE MUST BE IN THE DIRECTORY OR MAKEMAP WILL NOT WORK. This will increase your redneck folder to over 200 MEGs so make sure you have room on your Harddrive!
Alot of people complain that 3D mode doesn't look or work right, and it's most probably because they didn't extract the art and palette files.
There is no way to get around this, that I know of.
