Game Overview

What is Shadow Warrior?

Shadow Warrior is the 2nd game of a trio to use 3D Realms' Build Engine, made famous my Duke Nukem 3D. Prepare to enter an oriental world where survival is a way of life. With 8 player network and 2 player modem supported, featuring deathmatch and co-operative play (including saving of net games), Shadow Warrior is more exciting than any other game before it.

What's new about this game?
It uses the BUILD engine, but a more advanced version that the ones used for Duke Nukem 3D. Extras include:
Fog effects
Colored lighting
SVGA mode support.
Transparent water that you can see into and out of, as well as swim in.
True room over room situations where you can have beams running over a room and be above, below, or stand on the beam. Ledges, true bridges and more are all possible, adding to the realism of the environment.
8 player network and 2 player modem supported, featuring deathmatch and co-operative play (including saving of net games).
You will be able to use huge 3D rotating gun turrets to mow down opponents. Some turrets are on things like battleships, while some are simply set into a wall, or other structure.
Swim, duck, jump, drive vehicles, climb ladders and more.
Visit realistic places and settings in the game like an airport where a plane has crashed, construction sites and more, not just dark, dreary, faceless dungeons.
Intense interaction with your environment in which you can blow up nearly every object, or interect with it in some way.
Use vehicles to smash down some game walls, or destroy a section of a map.
Drive vehicles which have weapons from machine guns to lasers, or rockets. Get into some vehicles and go under others. You will drive things like boats, tanks, personnel carriers, forklifts, bulldozers and more. You can run over enemies, or shoot them. The choice is up to you!

What are the system requirements?
3D Realms recommends a Pentium processor with 16 megs of RAM.
However, I've heard from more than one person that its playable with a 486dx66 with 16 megs of RAM. Read one message I've received.

I want more info!
You can read about the weapons, the enemies, the vehicles, the inventory items, and view Screenshots.

The Weapons
http://www.bayserve.net/~mike/sw/weapons.html
------------------------------

All the weapons aren't nailed down yet, but here are the ones I've managed to find out about thus far:

Katana sword - In a multiplayer game, you can sneak up on your opponent and slash him. Watch his body actually separate into two halves and plop to the ground!

Shurikens (Japanese throwing stars) - Skip them off floors and ceilings and richochet them off walls.

Uzi - If you find two, you can fire them at the same time!

Riot Gun - Four-barreled shotgun

Rocket launcher - It has three settings: normal, heat seeking, and nuke (which will cause utter destruction for anything nearby)

40mm Grenade Launcher

Sticky mines that stick to ANYTHING: walls, ceilings, even enemies.

Railgun - It "creates a magnetic field and shoots a piece of metal at near light speed at an enemy"

A heart that you rip out of dead Rippers

Guardian Head - "You carry it around with three of your fingers sticking into the back of its skull. By removing one finger, you can fiddle with the brain and make it fire in three different ways" out of it's mouth: it will fire a stream of fireballs, a ring of fire, or napalm blasts. "The head, of course, isn't too happy about this."

The Enemies
http://www.bayserve.net/~mike/sw/monsters.html
------------------------------

All the monsters haven't been completed yet, but here are the ones I've managed to find out about thus far:

Ninja Grunts - they can do anything you can do: crawl, jump, duck, fight, swim, climb ladders, drive vehicles. They'll even commit suicide by sticking an Uzi in their mouth if their health gets too low.

Coolies - these kamikazi creatures (left) run around with boxes of TNT and blow you and themselves up. Once dead, its ghost (right) will "rise from the spilled guts" and attack you.

Ripper - This baboon-like creature will "scramble around very fast, jump really high, and will even cling to walls, waiting to pounce on the player. When you're close enough, they will hack and slash the player to death, and if you get weak enough, they will rip your heart out."

A scary, underwater creature which has "lots of big teeth," and has the ability to "shock you like an electric eel" from a large distance. Also, these creatures are known to "travel in schools and gang up on you."
Reptile-like creatures: Little is currently known about the mysterious reptile creatures.

Skeleton Ninja: Unknown at this time

"The Chick Warrior" - Unknown

Vehicles
http://www.bayserve.net/~mike/sw/vehicles.html
------------------------------

George Broussard, president of 3D Realms, explained that there will be defined areas in the game where the player will be allowed to drive a number of vehicles, but they "plan to have enough space to allow for some really cool fights in multiplay." The developers "hope to have enemies driving some vehicles, so you have to take them over before you can use them. Vehicles will be able to run over enemies, break down walls and other obstructions, take damage, and even stop working. They can even be repaired with a toolkit."

Broussard explains further, "We are still tweaking it all, but I don't think any game has gone this far yet. It should add a new dimension to 3D games, if we can pull it all off in a fun way that makes sense."

Also, vehicles will be quite useful in Cooperative mode, "as one person can drive while the other fires."

Here is a list of vehicles that, so far, are being planned for the game:

Hoverjets
Forklift Trucks
Bulldozer
Boats
Tanks
Armored Personnel Carriers

Inventory Items
http://www.bayserve.net/~mike/sw/inventory.html
------------------------------

Supposedly, this is the final list of inventory items that will appear in the game (some may only be in the registered version):
Toolkit to fix broken vehicles
MedKit (same as Duke)
Night Vision goggles (similar to Duke)
Gas Bomb - "gas" an area for 30 seconds or so. Great for respawn points in net play
Flash Bomb - blind nearby opponents for a time
Smoke bomb - causes you to dissapear for a time
Caltrops - drop these evil spikey things on the ground and watch the fun
Notably, there is no flying in Shadow Warrior, so there will be no jetpack.
